Our Culinary Classes are an amazing opportunity for students!

Students are given real hands-on experience in the world of professional cake decorating and food prep and  take home their own cake

EVERY CLASS!

You will not find Cake Decorating Classes like these anywhere else! 

Our Cake Decorating Classes are a HANDS-ON intensive into the world of professional cake decorating. Students will learn the secrets that decorators use to build on their skills each week!

*Have you ever wanted to learn how to decorate beautiful, piped flowers?

*Have you wanted to learn how to make flawless fondant?

*Have you ever wanted to learn how to make chocolate decorations?

These classes are the opportunity for learning these skills as students work step-by-step to learn and master using butter cream, traditional piping, fondant, gum paste, chocolate, and more! Students will learn how to level, split and fill a cake, and support each layer onto the next. The class will learn recipes to mix the frostings into the exact consistency needed for various decorating techniques, and practice dozens of piping skills.

Each week every student will take home their own cake.

A complete weekly syllabus will be sent to enrolled families.

- How to price a special events cake

- History of cake decorating styles and current trends

-Common mistakes and other troubleshooting tips

-How to level a cake

-How to split a cake evenly and fill with various cake fillings (Buttercream, custard, fruit etc.)

Our culinary classes are such an exciting hands-on opportunity for students who want to really gain experience in cake decorating, food preparation, kitchen safety, and hygiene! If you're an accomplished chef/decorator these classes will give you the confidence to create for your next big event.

If your just learning, these classes will give you the hands-on experience every student needs!

 

***For multi-week classes: A weekly syllabus will be sent to all enrolled families so students can look forward to what they will be learning and doing each week! 

If you love beautiful and delicious food as much

as we do, you will not want to miss this!

*The Health and safety of our students and staff are the highest priority for us. Students are provided with their own individual materials, tools and ingredients for every class. All food items will be taken home in a closed box. 

Students are taught and required to maintain proper food-prep hygiene throughout the duration of class. Class size is limited to provide space for students.

We are making CAKES FROM LITERATURE and turning our favorite stories into beautiful treats! 

    In this class, we will learn to create the splendidly described cakes from literature and turn some of the most beloved stories into a showstopping cake!  Students learn technical cake decorating skills, and proper handling and preparation of ingredients. Students decorate their own cake step-by-step and learn the tricks of the trade to gain practical skills and experience.

These Cake designs highlight different decorating techniques and allows the class to explore a wide variety of applications first-hand.  We will explore fillings, frostings, flavors, types of sponge, chocolate and gum-paste! Students will learn to use a long list of decorating materials and tools. This is a packed class, and we invite your student to participate and share in the love of beautiful dessert making.  

Literary Cakes

#1 Willy Wonka's Surprise Cake

Step inside the wacky and brilliant world of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as students create a colorful surprise cake! Students will decorate a strawberry cake, with blueberry pie frosting and roast beef chocolate drip (Just kidding, no roast beef) topped with beautifully arranged fondant decorations and candies from Wonka's workshop!

#2 Alice in Wonderland's un-birthday cake

An elegantly decorated cake, perfect for a lovely tea-time or a spectacular UN-birthday party with the Mad Hatter! Students will glimpse into Carol Lewis's Alice in Wonderland story by decorating a vanilla sponge cake, with buttercream, fondant and gum-paste decorations. The class will learn to dye their fondant and sculpt elegant pearls.

#3 the monster BOOK OF monster's cake

Keep a careful eye on this cake! Students visit the fantastic work of J.K Rowling's The Prisoner of Azkaban to transform a famous Hogwarts textbook into cake! Rich chocolate cake, topped with ganache and fondant details. This cake is sure to have your guests jumping onto the furniture!

#4 treasure Island's map cake

Prepare students to join the sea faring adventure alongside Jim Hawkins as students jump on board Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island!  

Students will decorate a rich spice cake with cream cheese frosting, and fondant. The class will learn to paint on cakes as they create their treasure map! X-marks the spot! 

#5 Aunt petunia's pudding

Dobby was only trying to help Harry Potter when he dropped Aunt Petunia's pudding on the guests in J.K. Rowling's The Chamber of Secrets. Such a shame, it looked delicious! Well, now you can make one and try it! Students will layer cake and custard to make a beautiful English pudding, complete with piped decorationsand sculpted flowers!

Artisan Bread Making Class

Students take home their own family-size bread in baking tray. This is a 5- class series with monthly meetings.

 Students will learn to make fresh artisan-bread from unique recipes around the world!

   In this class, students will delve into the wonderful world of international breads! Students will visit a new country each week to explore the region's bread history and the origins of each recipe. Students will take home information about the country each week for further learning- so that at the end of the 5-week course, students will be able to differentiate between cultural and regional trends in bread making. The class will learn the steps to create authentic breads with a focus on flours, leavenings, fillings, toppings, and how to fold, cut and decorate each delicious bread to take home and bake for their families.   

#1 Focaccia from Italy

A chewy, delicious flatbread from the Tuscan regional of central Italy- focaccia is a world-renowned favorite. Students will learn the traditional method with a modern twist.

#2 Conchas from Mexico

These shell-shaped sweet rolls are an Iconic Mexican bread that are topped with a unique semi-sweet paste and baked into a delightful roll.

#3 Nai Wong boa from China

Traditional custard filled boa (rolls) which can be steamed or baked. These delectable treats are versatile, and students will learn to make them in a variety of ways.

#4 Houska from Czech Republic

A delicious and beautifully braided bread filled with unique flavor in every bite. Houska can be made in a variety of ways and students will explore the possibilities!

#5 кре́ндель Krendel from Russia

This Russian Christmas bread is a golden, soft loaf twisted and folded with sweet apples and cinnamon and finished with a vanilla-lemon glaze.

Chocolatier Class

Art of Truffles

One- day Class

Location: The Kid Creative Cottage
3rd- 12th Grade
$75 per student. 

Students take home their own Truffle box with 15 gourmet chocolate truffles of various flavors.

Students will learn about the wonderful art of Chocolate making from cocoa bean to chocolate bar! Students will make beautifully decorated, molded chocolate truffles. Presentation in food art is the main focus of the class as students learn to create individually decorated chocolates.

 The Art of Chocolate has inspired

the world for centuries!

Students will experience how chocolate is made from cocoa bean

to chocolate bar. 

In this class, students will discover the Art of Chocolate making as they learn how to create beautiful and delicious Chocolates.  Students will learn technical skills, proper handling and preparation of ingredients. Students decorate their own chocolates step-by-step and learn the tricks of the trade to gain practical skills and experience. These truffles highlight different decorating techniques and allows the class to explore a wide variety of applications firsthand.  We will explore presentation, flavor combinations, textures and the origins of chocolate! Milk chocolate with a coconut and pecan chocolate mousse filling topped with gold leafing and glazed pecans 

CRISPY MILK TRUFFLE

Milk chocolate filled with rich sweetened milk-truffle and topped with crispy caramel covered rice puffs and white chocolate transfer sheet

The beauty of a delicate cupcake

can be a showstopper!

In this Imposter Food Cupcake Decorating Class, students will learn cake decorating techniques that will make the delicious sweet treat appear to be a savory meal. Students will learn how to work with fondant, gum paste, chocolate, and piping buttercream as they turn their mini-cakes into Food art!  Imposter cupcakes are not only playfully disguised, but also delicious with extravagant flavors! Students will learn about flavor combination secrets, textures, and recipes for fillings, toppings, garnishes and frostings to take home. *There is no cooking or baking in this class.

Gourmet Cupcake Class-

Deli sandwiches-

9/6 This deception is made with a white sponge cake with the use of buttercream, sculpted edible clay and sweet treats manipulated into onion slices and other veggies for this take home deli sandwich.

CHOW MEIN AND FRIED RICE-

10/4 A yummy dinner favorite made into a dessert imposter. Loaded with noodles and veggies made from surprising look alike treats makes this serving of noodles and rice a stand out meal.

NACHOS GRANDE-

11/1 These nachos have all the fixings. The imposter refried beans and ground beef will imply dinner is ready. The use of sour cream and the nacho spread is a total fake-out imposter. This nacho-grande is a family pleaser and a sweet favorite!

 CHERRY and pumpkin PIE-

12/6 Our pie imposters are sure to win the blue ribbon! A variety of cherry and pumpkin pies will be created with latticed top to look and whipped cream topping. Each pie is a work of art and sure to be a surprise!

                      Decorate yourself a critter!

In this class, students will learn to make deliciously- cute critter designs for specialty cupcakes. Each little box of cupcake critters shows what cake decorating techniques students learned using with real pastry tools, and ingredients.

Students will focus on proper food handling techniques and lessons for making and working with edible clay, creative ideas for using food items for decorating, and tricks for using different frostings, and fillings for unique cakes in design and flavor.

Forest Critters-

9/10 Foxes, deer and Hedgehogs created with rich chocolate sponge cake, white chocolate ganache, and decorated with buttercream

Zoo Buddies-

10/8 Lions, pandas, and bears are created with wild raspberry sponge cake, lemon curd filling, vanilla buttercream and chocolate decorations

Farm Friends-

11/5 Cows, sheep and pigs are made with marbled sponge cake, chocolate and vanilla buttercream, modeling chocolate, fondant and gum paste

 

Ocean Animals-

12/10 Otters, sea turtles, and crabs are made with fun-fetti vanilla bean sponge cake, caramel surprise centers, and decorated using candies and fondant

Making delicious food doesn't require a

fancy Kitchen! 

These fantastic cooking activities for kids taste great and will keep your students interested in Culinary possibilities. Making food in a park classroom setting is even more fun because it helps build teamwork skills too. Fostering a love for cooking in children at an early age can help ease picky eaters, and create a love for healthful food and creative cooking.

Our No Kitchen required class offers an introduction to alternative cooking without a kitchen. Students learn kitchen hygiene to use proper food handling-skills and prep for recipes. Class begins with in-depth instruction on the kitchen safety lesson of the day.

 A demonstration will be shown how to use outdoor cooking equipment such as a propane burner, BBQ grill, and ice for quick cooling. Students will learn to follow written recipes, instructions and practice skills required for mixing, blending, cutting and rolling delicious ingredients. Here are some of our cooking activities for kids!
