Painting Class

Students will learn how to capture the beauty and movement of wild animals in this painting class!

Each week, students will do an endangered animal study and use the skills of observation to see the beauty of these wild animals. Students will use classical painting techniques to see like a painter and recreate what they see on canvas. Learn techniques step-by-step for fur, feathers, beaks and claws!

All Ages Welcome! We work with our students one-on-one at their level.

THE TOUCAN BIRD STUDY

Students will learn to paint a Toucan with colorful background.

  • Brush strokes and handling a pallet knife

  • Movement of water with the brush

  • Shadow and light from around the bird

  • Painting eyes, beaks and claws

  • Reflective and refractive colors

  • Mixing colors

  • Color theory and how to keep paint colors vivid

  • Blending techniques

  • Using specialized painting mediums to acrylic

THE JAGUAR & POND STUDY

Students will learn to paint a beautiful Jaguar drinking from a pond.

  • Brush strokes and handling a pallet knife

  • Movement of water with the brush

  • Painting shrubs, and water

  • Reflective and refractive colors

  • Mixing colors

  • Color theory and how to keep paint colors vivid

  • Blending techniques

  • Using specialized painting mediums to acrylic

  • Painting texture in fur 

  • Painting eyes, whiskers, and other details

Students will learn how to paint a majestic Giraffe.

THE  ELEPHANT SUNSET STUDY

Students will learn how to paint elephants, acacia tree and sunset

  • Movement and shape of Elephants

  • Painting shrubs, acacia tree and background vs. foreground

  • Reflective and refractive colors

  • Mixing colors

  • Color theory and how to keep paint colors vivid
